Best RAM For Ryzen 7 3700X And 3800X

When it comes to building a new computer, the processor, graphics card, and motherboard tend to be the first few things that come to mind.

But another very important component that everyone must consider is the system’s memory, or RAM (random access memory).

RAM is often one of those PC components that gets overlooked and under-researched whilst building a computer. It’s important, as PCs can’t function without it.

When shopping for RAM, you should always consider the frequency, voltage, price, and amount needed. While some motherboards support up to 4 RAM slots, some can only take two. These are all factors that should be considered before picking your system’s memory.

Today we decided to check out four different RAM kits in order to figure out which one would be the best value for your money, while still delivering an optimum performance for your Ryzen 7 3700X and 3800X processors.

If you’re more interested in Ryzen 5000 processors, we have also written a separate post about ram modules for Ryzen 7 5800X.

1. CORSAIR CMW16GX4M2C3200C14: Best RAM For Ryzen 7 3700X And 3800X

Corsair CMW16GX4M2C3200C14 Vengeance RGB PRO 16GB...
  • Dynamic Multi-Zone RGB Lighting: 10 Ultra-bright RGB LEDs per module
  • Next Generation Software: Take control in CORSAIR iCUE software and synchronize lighting with other CORSAIR RGB products, including CPU coolers, keyboards and fans
  • Custom Performance PCB: Provides the highest signal quality for the greatest level of performance and stability

First up, we looked at the CORSAIR Vengeance RGB Pro CMW16GX4M2C3200C14. This 2-pack of 8GB RAM cards (16 GB total) provides great speed and performance for your system, while also featuring some beautiful and fully customizable RGB lighting effects.

This CORSAIR Vengeance RGB Pro delivers DDR4 performance, and supports all modern Intel and AMD processors, including the Ryzen 7 3700X and 3800X. The cards support for up to 4600 MHz speed, which is top in its class when compared to other RAM cards (though the particular model that we’re looking at offers 3200 MHz).

The cards also come packed in with RGB lighting, as already mentioned, and is entirely customizable.

The lighting looks great and can also be synchronized together with the rest of your system’s RGB lighting through CORSAIR’s iCUE software, allowing it to be controlled alongside your system fans, keyboard, mice and more.

The software offers tons of different RGB lighting options, which are sure to suit anybody’s particular preference.

There are a couple of downsides to this RAM, however. The first of which is its overall size. Measuring out to be 51 mm tall, this RAM kit quite tall so you should definitely make sure that you have enough clearance room within your PC before purchasing this product.

The other downside is its price: it’s quite expensive, especially considering the RAM kit is only 16GB total, and many PC builders nowadays are building with 32 GB memory. But with that said, the RAM is also incredibly fast and has beautiful RGB lighting, so the choice is entirely yours.

Pros:

  • Very Fast
  • Support non-Corsair RGB utilities too.
  • Is Fully Customizable

Cons:

  • Expensive
  • Very Tall, Might Not Fit in Some Builds

2. G.SKILL TridentZ F4-3200C14D-32GTZR

G.SKILL Trident Z RGB Series (Intel XMP) DDR4 RAM...
  • Trident Z RGB Series, designed specifically for AMD Ryzen X470, X570 Series; Intel Z390, Z490, Z590 and newer.
  • 32GB kit containing 2 x 16GB modules, DDR4-3200, 288-Pin, CAS Latency CL14 (14-14-14-34) at 1.35V
  • Brand: G.SKILL, Series: Trident Z RGB, Model: F4-3200C14D-32GTZR

The G.SKILL TridentZ RGB F4-3200C14D-32GTZR offers very similar specs to the CORSAIR model, with similar results. Just like the CORSAIR model, this particular offering by G.SKILL offers speeds of 3200 MHz with vibrant RGB lighting. This kit is 2x16GB RAM cards (32 GB total), which is double the amount of the CORSAIR kit.

This RAM kit is also similarly very tall, so buyers will need to make sure that their PCs have the correct amount of clearance to fit in these very large RAM cards before making the purchase.

The RGB lighting is also very nice, and just like the CORSAIR brand RAM cards, these will function in tandem with other PC components as well and are customizable through G.SKILL’s included software.

The one major plus that this RAM kit has over the CORSAIR one is its price: while packing in twice the amount of memory as CORSAIR’s offering (32 GB over 16 GB), it currently costs the exact same price as the other RAM kit.

So with essentially no other differing factors, this fact alone makes the G.SKILL TridentZ RGB F4-3200C14D-32GTZR a much better deal than its competing brand.

While neither of the kits are bad, this product just feels like a better deal for this reason alone, and there’s no reason to settle for anything otherwise.

Pros:

  • Very Fast Speeds
  • Great RGB Lighting, Is Fully Customizable
  • Pretty Good Deal For Fans of RGB

Cons:

  • Very Tall, might get in the way of other components

3. Team T-Force XTREEM TF10D416G3200HC14BDC01

Team T-Force’s XTREEM TF10D416G3600HC14CDC01 RAM is an excellent RAM kit, especially for its lower price point.

While it doesn’t offer RGB lighting, it outclasses many other RAM kits in terms of speed, performance, and overclocking.

The RAM kit as the computing memory size of 16 GB (2x8GB) and has a memory clock speed of 4133 MHz, which is quite a bit faster than the already mentioned, more expensive RAM kits. This RAM kit is the optimum choice for most consumers, as it undoubtedly offers the highest performance.

It is also not as tall as the other models with included RGB lighting, so it should be less of a pain to fit inside most PC builds, and shouldn’t get in the way of other parts like CPU coolers and fans.

While this RAM kit is not as flashy or as visually striking as some other memory on the market, it does its job well which is what’s really important. This RAM kit is for people who care for substance over style and flashiness.

Pros:

  • Extremely Fast Speeds
  • A Great Deal

Cons:

  • No RGB, if that’s your thing

4. Patriot Viper 4 Series Extreme: Best Budget RAM For Ryzen 7 3700X And 3800X

The Patriot Viper 4 Series Extreme PV416G320C6K is by far the cheapest of all of the RAM kits discussed today, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s the worst.

This RAM kit is less than half the price of the previously mentioned Team T-Force kit, and less than a third of the price of the first two RAM kits discussed. With that big of a price gap, the Patriot Viper 4 Series Extreme couldn’t possibly stack up to the other RAM kits. Or could it? Let’s dive in and find out.

For starters, the Patriot Viper 4 Series Extreme does not include any sort of RGB lighting, unlike the higher priced RAM kits. With that said, it still manages to match the speed of others, with it offering a maximum speed of up to 3200MHz.

It includes 2x8GB RAM kits, with 16 GB total. And with the same price as the other RAM kits, this one seems like a no-brainer.

The only big drawback to this RAM kit is that it is dual-rank memory, meaning that the information has to go around twice within the RAM in order to be accessed, making for a slightly slower product.

For those who don’t care for the absolute fastest speeds, this difference shouldn’t matter to much, especially if you’re someone thinking with a tight budget in mind. But for PC purists looking for the best in class, then you should probably look elsewhere.

This RAM kit is perfect for those who don’t care for RGB lighting, and don’t mind dual rank memory. With 16 GB of memory at 3200 MHz speed, this RAM kit nearly matches the more expensive brands with almost the same level of performance.

With such a competitive price, this RAM kit is easily one of the best on the market and comes highly recommended for anyone who is simply looking for a solid RAM kit without any crazy features, such as RGB lighting.

Pros:

  • Very Fast Speed
  • Cheap Price

Cons:

  • No Additional Features, Such as RGB Lighting
  • Dual Rank

Conclusion

While there are plenty of great choices when it comes to memory, the RAM kit that I would have to recommend today above the rest is the one offered by Team T-Force, the XTREEM TF10D416G3600HC14CDC01. I recommend this RAM kit above the rest simply because it offers the best performance for a lower price.

If you’re a die-hard RGB fan, then this probably isn’t the ideal RAM kit and would be better pleased by the G.SKILL TridentZ RGB F4-3200C14D-32GTZR which packs in additional memory and RGB lighting, for a bit more cash.

But if that’s not the case and you’re just looking for some memory that is affordable and offers great performance, then this kit will do more than a great job. It comes highly recommended.

When it comes to finding the best RAM kit for your Ryzen 7 3700X or 3800X, the Team T-Force XTREEM TF10D416G3600HC14CDC01 is the best in terms of overall value and efficiency.
